DesigneR: Research and Strategy
DesigneR: Research and Strategy
I’m Lee, a Chicago-based designer, researcher and strategist currently working in KPMG Ignition’s Innovation Lab. Some things I do:
develop products, and product and business strategies through design research
facilitate and produce industry events and analysis
create and curate content around industry futures
I’m interested in multidisciplinary work, and connecting dots between design and science. You can find out more about this at FAAR.space
I write about how all of this fits together, here on Medium.
I have a BFA from Parsons School of Design and a MS in Strategic Design and Management, and previously worked as adjunct faculty in the Parsons School of Design Strategies BBA and in Fashion Studies at Columbia College Chicago. I’m currently pursing a executive masters in global management (EMGM) with Thunderbird for Space Business, Leadership and Policy. Est graduation July ‘24.
Below are some examples of my consulting work in design, research and community activation. You can get in touch here.

FAAR is a platform dedicated to inspire, advance, and support interdisciplinary collaboration towards the shared interests between the fashion and aerospace industries.
FAAR has been a catalyst for this conversation through panels and participatory events, as well as interactive design thinking workshops in the local area and around the country.
I conceptualized and co-produced a two-day conference in Brooklyn, New York, hosting over a hundred attendees from fashion, technology, business and academia. The conference consisted of panels, keynotes, design sprints, and a full-day design thinking workshop.
The Challenge: to create an outerwear brand that could bridge necessary function with an elevated aesthetic for women living in cities.
The result: Starkweather, a brand based on a layering principle, using low and high-tech solutions to maintain optimum warmth, while reducing bulk, and timeless details over athletic design components.
