Welcome, we’re not afraid to tell it like it is – warts and all

Hi and, if you have visited before, it´s great to welcome you again.

This site is proving as popular as ever, even though I am now just publishing two posts a week. Of course that does not mean that an ‘extra’ might not slip in occasionally. Never say never, right?

The site’s relaunch, complete with new look and a repositioning as MS, Disability & Living Life has been well received. This has given a wider scope of subjects that have added to the original health and disability core.

As far as posts go, I intend to continue to be selective and less prolific than before the relaunch – hopefully quality will win over quantity.  As an independent journalist, honesty, truth, and trust are my watchwords – and I do not hesitate to criticise or condemn where necessary,

I hope you enjoy this progressive editorial outlook.

Why ’50 shades’?

Ok, so if you are a new visitor, you may be wondering why this MS, Disability & Living Life site is called 50shadesofsun.

Well, the Sun, being at the centre of our solar system, is the most important source of energy for life on Earth. Sun equals life.

Disability creates different aspects, or shades, of how we see, adapt and live our lives. So, ‘aspects of life’ become ‘shades of sun’ and ‘living our lives’ becomes ‘living life’.

The figure ‘50’ illustrates that there are many aspects of life or shades of sun. There is no magic to the 50 figure – just a well-known book title.

This site explores the very many facets of life, such as disability, and topics may include, but not be limited to:

  • Human interest stories
  • Humour
  • Personal anecdotes
  • Living with disabilities and chronic illnesses:
    • Symptoms
    • Treatments
    • Research / studies
    • Preventative measures & precautions
    • Health education
  • Disability aids
  • Disability rights and politics
  • Access and mobility

I hope that you will find much of interest here, returning many times and spreading the word to family and friends.

On every page you will find links to my latest post, monthly archives of previous posts and a number of permanent pages. There is even one link to return here.

If there is any particular topic that you’d like me to write about, please let me know – just send an email to ian@50shadesofsun.com.

Finally, one legal point: I am not a medical professional and any opinions expressed anywhere in this website are purely personal and do not constitute medical advice of any kind.

Wishing you sunny days
